PVC vs. ABS Edge Banding Comparison:

Feature / Attribute  PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene)
Material Base Chlorine-based polymer with plasticizers. Chlorine-free, styrene-based plastic composite.
Eco-Friendliness Difficult to recycle; releases toxic dioxins if incinerated. Fully recyclable and incinerates safely without toxic gas emissions.
Shrinkage & Heat Resistance Lower heat resistance; shrinks under high temperature or UV exposure. Higher heat resistance; highly stable in hot or sunny environments.
Machining & Flexibility Very easy to trim, scratch-resistant, but turns white at stress folds if filled with too much calcium. Easier to trim and scrape cleanly; does not turn white when bent or stressed.
Impact Resistance High impact resistance. Extremely high impact resistance (excellent for heavy-duty environments).
Density & Weight Higher density; heavier per roll. Lower density; lighter rolls, lowering shipping and handling costs.
Adhesive Compatibility Works with standard EVA or PUR hot melts (requires a primer layer). Works with EVA or PUR hot melts (readily accepts adhesives without aggressive primers).
Cost More cost-effective for large production runs. Slightly higher initial material cost.
