Key Features of a Tandem Drawer System:
Synchronized Movement: This is the defining feature. When you open one drawer in a tandem set, the other connected drawer(s) automatically open in unison. The same happens when closing. This creates a smooth, modern, and impressive visual effect.
Full Extension: Most tandem runners are "full-extension" slides. This means the drawer can be pulled completely out of the cabinet, giving you 100% access to the contents inside, even at the very back.
Soft-Close: This is almost always a standard feature. The drawer will slow down just before it closes and then gently and quietly latch shut without slamming, even if you give it a push.
Undermount Design: Tandem slides are typically undermounted. This means the mechanical runners are installed on the bottom sides of the drawer, hidden from view when the drawer is open. This creates a very clean, minimalist look with no visible hardware.
High Weight Capacity: These systems are engineered to be extremely robust and can support very heavy loads (e.g., pots, pans, files, or dishes) without sagging or failing.
