1. Assess Application Scope & Limitations

Ideal Use Cases:

Lightweight cabinets (e.g., upper wall units, vanity tops, medicine cabinets) 

Thin doors (16–26mm thickness), common in mirrored medicine cabinets, glass-fronted displays, or frameless cabinets with narrow stiles (e.g., 1-3/4" face frames) 

Projects requiring minimal visual intrusion (26mm cups are smaller and less obtrusive than 35/40mm alternatives) 

Avoid For:

Heavy solid-wood doors or wide panels (>26mm thick).

Applications needing >95° opening (standard for 26mm hinges; wider angles require larger cups) 

 

2. Verify Technical Specifications

Cup Dimensions:

Screw Spacing:

Standard hinge screw holes: 38mm (1-1/2") center-to-center 

Mounting plate screws: 32mm center-to-center

Load Capacity:

3. Select Overlay Type & Arm Configuration

26mm hinges suit all overlays but require specific arm designs:

Inset: Full-cranked arm for flush doors (requires precise alignment) 

 

4. Installation & Adjustability Considerations

Mounting Systems:

Clip-on: Ideal for quick door removal (common in medicine cabinets) 

Slide-on: Screw-secured; better for high-vibration environments 

Adjustability:

Prioritize hinges with 3-way screws (±2mm vertical/lateral/horizontal adjustment) .

Drilling:

Use 26mm Forstner bit; hole depth = cup depth (typically 10–13mm). Note: Shallower than 35mm hinges
