A frog hinge (also commonly known as a bridge hinge or drill-free hinge) is a special furniture hardware fitting. It gets its name because its shape resembles a frog in a crouching position.

Key Features

Drill-free / Groove-free InstallationUnlike conventional hinges, frog hinges do not require milling or drilling grooves on the door panel or cabinet side. They are fixed directly onto the surface with screws. Installation is simple and non-damaging to panels, making them especially suitable for thin boards, melamine boards, particle boards and other easily breakable materials.

Wide Opening AngleStandard hinges typically open between 95° and 110°, while frog hinges are commonly available in 90°, 165°, 175° and other wide-angle versions. When opened, the cabinet door can lie flat against the side panel without blocking interior space, allowing easy access to stored items.

Bionic Mechanical StructureThe hinge arm uses a mechanical design modeled after a frog's leg joints, providing even force distribution, strong load-bearing capacity (usually higher than ordinary hinges), and stable structure that resists loosening or sagging over long-term use.

Soft-close Damper (Optional)High-end models come with a built-in hydraulic damper for quiet, slow closing, preventing door slamming and improving user experience.

Main Specifications

Size: Commonly 3" (75mm), 4" (100mm)

Material: Cold-rolled steel, stainless steel (rust-resistant)

Finish: Nickel-plated, chrome-plated

Angle: 90°, 165°, 175°

Function: Standard type, hydraulic soft-close type

Applications

Corner cabinets, diamond-shaped cabinets: Solves issues of limited opening angle and door collision with standard hinges.

Melamine / ecological board furniture: No grooving needed, preserving panel integrity.

Old furniture renovation & DIY modification: Easy to install without professional tools.

Mahjong tables, toolboxes, equipment cases: Applications requiring wide-angle, convenient opening.

Differences from Standard Hinges

Installation: Frog hinges are surface-mounted / semi-surface-mounted (drill-free); standard hinges are concealed (groove required).

Opening angle: Frog hinges offer wide angles (≥165°); standard hinges offer narrow angles (95°–110°).

Suitable panels: Frog hinges work with all panel types (especially thin boards); standard hinges suit thick solid wood, plywood.

Appearance: Frog hinges remain partially visible when closed; standard hinges are fully concealed.
