Castors (also spelled casters) are small, swiveling wheels attached to the legs or base of furniture, equipment, or machinery to make them easy to move. They come in different sizes, materials, and designs depending on their intended use.

Types of Castors:

Rigid Castors – Fixed in one direction, only rolling forward and backward.

Swivel Castors – Rotate 360°, allowing for easy maneuverability in any direction.

Locking Castors – Can be locked to prevent movement (either swivel or wheel rotation).

Brake Castors – Have a brake mechanism to stop the item from rolling.

Common Materials:

Hard Plastic – Lightweight, good for smooth floors.

Rubber (Soft Tread) – Quieter, protects floors, and provides grip.

Metal (Nylon or Steel) – Heavy-duty, used for industrial equipment.

Polyurethane – Durable, resists chemicals and wear.

Uses of Castors:

Office chairs, trolleys, and carts

Hospital beds and medical equipment

Industrial machinery and workshop tools

Furniture like sofas, tables, and cabinets
