1. Relationship between Thickness and Load-bearing Capacity of Square Iron Tube Sofa Legs

Square iron tube sofa legs are the most widely used type for sofas and leisure seats at present, featuring strong structural stability and uniform stress, suitable for most household and light commercial sofas. At the standard height of 100mm-150mm, sofa legs with different pipe sizes and wall thicknesses show obvious differences in load-bearing performance.

For thin-walled square tubes of 20×20mm specification, iron sofa legs with a wall thickness of 1.0mm have weak load-bearing performance, with a safe load-bearing capacity of 40-60kg per leg. They are only applicable to small single leisure chairs and light simple sofas, and cannot bear heavy loads; slight deformation may occur under long-term compression. When the wall thickness is increased to 1.2mm, the structural strength is significantly improved, and the safe load-bearing capacity of each leg can reach 60-80kg, which can meet the use requirements of conventional single sofas and light luxury leisure seats, and is the mainstream choice for small seats.

The 25×25mm square tube is a universal model for household sofas with strong adaptability. Under this specification, sofa legs with a wall thickness of 1.2mm have a safe load-bearing capacity of 80-110kg per leg, suitable for conventional two-seater sofas. The upgraded version with 1.5mm wall thickness can reach a safe load-bearing capacity of 110-150kg per leg. It features stable structure and high cost performance, serving as the core selection for two-seater sofas and small three-seater fabric sofas on the market.

Large-specification square tubes of 30×30mm are designed for heavy-load scenarios. Iron sofa legs with a wall thickness of 1.5mm have a safe load-bearing capacity of 150-200kg per leg, suitable for ordinary three-seater sofas and heavy solid wood fabric sofas. The thickened version with 2.0mm wall thickness further improves the load-bearing capacity, with a safe load-bearing capacity of 200-260kg per leg. It has strong resistance to structural deformation and pressure, and is mainly used for heavy large-size sofas, chaise lounges and multi-functional load-bearing sofas and other heavy-load scenarios.

2. Relationship between Thickness and Load-bearing Capacity of Round Iron Tube Sofa Legs

Round iron tube sofa legs have a minimalist appearance, mostly used for light luxury and minimalist style sofas and side tables. Under the same pipe diameter and wall thickness, their load-bearing stability is slightly inferior to square tubes, and the overall load-bearing parameters are relatively low, suitable for light home products.

For round tube sofa legs with an outer diameter of 25mm, the model with 1.0mm wall thickness has a safe load-bearing capacity of 35-50kg per leg, only suitable for small light seats; the 1.2mm wall thickness model increases the safe load-bearing capacity to 50-70kg per leg, which can be used for conventional single light luxury sofas. The 32mm outer diameter round tube is a common medium-size specification for round tube sofa legs. The 1.2mm wall thickness provides a safe load-bearing capacity of 70-90kg per leg, while the 1.5mm wall thickness can reach 90-130kg per leg, suitable for two-seater minimalist sofas and medium and small leisure sofas.

Large-size round tubes with an outer diameter of 38mm deliver the best load-bearing performance. Finished sofa legs with 1.5mm wall thickness have a safe load-bearing capacity of 130-170kg per leg, which is the heavy-duty type among round tube sofa legs, mainly used for large-size two-seater sofas and light luxury three-seater sofas.
